Hello folks,

a little while ago I posted a message here considering the Gemmy Game I was developing. Well now, it is ready to be shown to the general public. I have placed several Gemmy machines at this location

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Cupids%20Arrow/198/15/21/?title=Gemmy%20Machines

I invite anyone who is interested to participate in the open beta-testing of the game. The machines are in freeplay mode and scores-to-beat are not so high, so you may earn some lindens playing. Moreover if you manage to find some bugs or give me some really interesting ideas on how to make the game better, I would be willing reward you for your help.

My personal opinion on the game (relative to other games, Zyngo in particular):

PROS:
1) Simple administration & maintenance. Change game options with several clicks.
2) Few Prims, just 10 at this point. I may add one more.
3) Captivating gameplay. The game is a remake of the classical Bejeweled game, which is very popular all round the globe.

CONS:
1) It is not as "polished" and "shiny" as other games. It needs improvement in graphics (probably sound, too). So I seek a designer, if you are the one, contact me inworld, my usual hours are 10 AM - 2 PM SLT.

Here is how it looks

and btw, for those of you who forgot how to play Bejeweled, there is a user manual in the machines, just click the body of a machine.

Hi, Ferawri!

Neat design, thanks! Now a more detailed comment on this:

I like the colors you used, they are very bright and cheerful, just what a game needs. I also like the font used. And of course the huge ruby on the backside of the machine. :)

The background is a bit simplistic. I see it is made with the Photoshop "Texturizer" filter (or something similar) with gradient color overlay. It should be modified to suit the game's needs, e.g. background should be shaded underneath the gems to add contrast.
Also, the front-side texture has alpha on it, which can cause a glitch in graphics, when one alpha texture (a gem) overlays another (the background).

To sum up, the work is good, very good for a demo, but it could use some modifications.

I would be willing to acquire the "source" texture files from you so I can modify them myself, although I must admit that I am a bit low on cash at the moment, so we will have to negotiate on your reward. :)

Please contact me in-world, Ferawri.
My usual SL hours during working days are around 10 AM - 2 PM SLT and I have a more flexible schedule during weekends.

P.S. A note to all others who may be interested: the gemmy game machines will soon be sold. The main scripting is done. So all I need is to add a few more skins for the machines, plus an updater script that would allow you to upgrade your machines on-the-fly and free-of-charge. Yes there will be a version 2.0 of the machine with even less lags and more options! Check this thread for updates. ;)
