Howdy all;

The first public Holoball demo was a success. There's some bugs that we found and some things to tweak, but overall everyone had a blast!

Proper written instructions in-world will follow, but if you're interested in checking it out yourself:

head to the Holoball Arena

buy a racket for L$200; this entitles you to unlimited play.

Take the elevator up to the arena by first touching the call box, sit down on the elevator, and touch the elevator itself to go up.

Once in the arena, attach your rackets, choose teams and time limits by touching the racket, and play!

The object of the game is, while in mouselook, catch the balls flying around to turn them your team's color. Then shoot the balls with the left mouse button to turn the walls your team's color; you gain points in proportion to how long you can keep the panels colored. most points wins!

For updates, join the "Holoball Players" group; We intend to form a league soonish!

This really is great fun, I'd recommend it to anyone! ^_^

Here's a screenshot from mouselook during a game - The racket doesn't normally cover that much of your screen, I think I was looking up at the time... you can see a yellow ball on the left and a red ball to the right just behind the racket.

I'll definitely be playing this again, if you weren't there last night get some friends and give it a try! ^_^

I must warn anyone thinking about trying this game...

You're going to have fun. Lots of it. You're going to want to come back and play again. If we're not careful and many people try this, there will be tournaments and leagues and regular scheduled games.

Oh, woah is SL! Woah! ;)

Kudos!

Haven't tried it (just now seeing this ), but looks like an original entertaining game in SL. Unfortunately, there aren't enough of them.

I'll definitely check this out. Looks good.

Well done, Ms Stonebender!

When you're rich, will you still host primtionary?
Or will you live a life of leisure in the virtual gold coast?

Well, I can't take the credit for making holoball; it's primary the work of Lex Neva, Kali Dougall, and Sprite Quartermass.

However, they don't really like to run events, whereas I do.

Also, I have no intentions to be rich, but instead hope to maintain the life of a virtual Socrates, and annoy the hell out of others by asking difficult questions in the mall sims. ;)
