roller derby

created Roller Derby awhile ago but not too popular .

Theres Boxing ,bowling ,water polo (i think ) Ice hocky

I couldn't find ice hockey. Where is it? I saw someone was wanting to create it but needed a scripter to write it all (a pretty big job). It would be very cool though.

Not exactly a contact sport, but it is a sport. I created playable Air Hockey this week. (that's why I'd been searching for hockey)

Soccer Game

Rocky Rutabaga is building a Soccer Game.
Opposing Teams of Avitars play on a field.
A couple of pickup games have already taken place.
They were great fun and provided Rocky with valuable feedback for tweaking the 'physics' of the soccer ball, and finetuning the size of the field.

Still in development are an automated scoreboard and a mechanism to automatically put the ball into play. (right now, this is done manually)

This promises to be a great SL sport... Check with Rocky for more details.

Rocky Rutabaga has a giant air hockey game I scripted for him --
you kick the puck around the rink (it's 30m by 20m). Quite fun!

I'll also have a setup for Ultimate Frisbee ready in a couple weeks.

Yep! this one's a fun team sport. Kind of Soccer with a giant puck instead of a ball.
Last game there were 10 Avi's playing and 10 more in the bleachers cheering! There's a league organizing around this, too.

I'm new to SL and I've seen people running around with light sabers. Doing physical activity besides walking and flying does not seem very intuitive.

I assume items that you pick up like a light saber would be added like you add clothing?

Is the control of such an item by means of basic controls or scripts that need to be created? I'm thinking of things like kicking a ball or swinging a light saber.

If you get into a competition how do you score, how do you know your winning?

If your driving a vehicle, I assume you use basic controls like you control your avatar?

Any links to more info on physical sports would be appreciated.
