Voice morpher for Mac?

Since MorphVox still isn't out for Mac, and I've been unable to figure out GarageBand for realtime morphing, and I can't find a timbre plugin for Audio Hijack Pro...
Are there any voice morphers out there for Mac?
Or some sort of software that offers real time effects and at least pitch and timbre?
Or tutorials for how to use Garageband (or other) to do this?

It's greatly appreciated, thank you.

I played around with the garageband one.. its kinda cool..

what you need to do is download a free utility thats called Soundflower ... it adds new sound inputs and outputs to your Mac.

Once its installed, you want to go in System Preferences and set your default input to be Soundflower (2ch) ... so that everything only listens to that and not a mic....

you then open garageband, and set up a song, and add in the voice effects on a track, where there is al kindsa effects you can put on....

go into Garageband preferences, and make it have its Input your Microphone that you are using... Line In.. USB... whatever the one is you want to use....

Then set Garagebands Output to go to Soundflower (2ch) ....

this makes any sound made in Garageband go to SoundFlower, which is your systems default input.... so any other application you use hears garagebands output as its input...

Make sure in Garageband that you turn the Monitor on....

if you want to listen in to Soundflower (2ch) to hear what its hearing... look for an app called Soundflowerbed, that runs in the top bar and you can listen in to soundflower on a different chosen output.

Yes, Soundflower and Garageband work. I have fooled around with it, and it is amazing how well the sex change filter works.

Thanks, that's really helpful. I've gotten SoundFlower(+bed) working with SL before. But I have NO idea what to do with GarageBand, and google didn't seem to turn up any useful tutorials as far as live voice morphing. Can anyone offer some advice or a tut on GarageBand?

GB voice morphing

Hi Alpha, I have never tried using it for inworld or live morphing, but the place to find voice stuff in GB:
Create a basic or audio track
In the Effects section on the right (which you can toggle by command-I), click the details box at the bottom to open up the effects.
You see a list of audio effects, like Gate, Compressor, etc
For the Menus that default to "none," open the menus and look for Vocal Transformer
Then click the little pencil box on the right, and it opens up the Voc Trans window
From there you can altar pitch, and there's a menu of preset effects, like female, chipmunk, etc.

Thanks for the info. This IS one situation where doing something on the Mac is a pain in the butt compared to Windows. Not sure I want to sound like a pixie or a troll badly enough to mess with it.

It is easy actually as I played around with the instructions. Trickiest bit is tracking down a copy of sunflower, but search is your friend.

Soundflower & Garageband for voice fiddling.

Here's how...

SL Viewer Settings:
Enable Voice Chat [checked]
Use push-to-talk (this is important to avoid feedback when others are talking)
Input device (microphone): Soundflower (2ch)

OSX Settings:
Sound->Input: Line In (acutally I use :Logitech USB Headset" but whatever mic you have works)

Garage Band:
New Track as "real instrument track"
Effect "Vocal Transform" with whatever sub mode you want

Input Source as your microphone (not soundflower)
Montor On
Enable Gate (set it to somewhere around 30 to 45)

Audio/Midi -> Optimized for: "Minimum Delay when playing live instrument"

make sure the "headphones" are highlighted on the instrument track. You do NOT need to have recording running. Just have it up. You can tell it's working if the mixer loudness bars for left/right show movement when you talk.

You can also use the listen output in soundflower to hear yourself talk even without SL running.

Now a bit of explanation...
Soundflower acts as the output for the monitor on GarageBand. It re-directs this output as the input for SL Viewer. So, when you talk in your mike, it goes through Garageband to be mangled as you see fit and the results sent to SL Viewer via Soundflower

For my own benefit, I cut and pasted all the instructions, and added more info I discovered while using them. It worked! Yay!

That's what I said. But if you like to play AVs different from yourself, and want to use voice, it's an option. It wasn't as bad as it sounds.
