* The ability to create joints has been removed from the Tools menu

What's up with this? I use joints! I still want to be able to CREATE joints!

Probably to do with the discussion in general about joint removal, and that helping speed up the implementation of havok3

I use Zephir chimes and they have joints. They work very well. You mean they will be broken when v1.9 comes online? NOT COOL!

But they haven't worked for most people. And as someone who is greatly interested in making moving, dancing, singing robots, this has been a great disappointment to me. I'm just as glad to see an option that is 90% broken just tossed. But I regret the loss of your chimes.

I'm pretty sure that removing all physics altogether would speed up the implementation of havok3 even more

Why don't you try them in 1.9 and see? It said "the ability to create joints has been removed from the Tools menu", not "the ability to create joints has been removed from the Tools menu and we also broke every single joint that was already created".

Yep, the option to add joints seems to be removed but not the functionality. I think the idea is that people will not continue making objects using buggy and hopefully soon to be replaced physics code.
So existing things will continue to work, but it's a sort of warning to those that use them that the feature is to be depreciated and set to change in future.
