Hey, here's an idea (pls bear in mind; relative newb)..
I noticed scripts can access server stats like fps, time dilation etc. How about each sim has one or more cleverly-scripted-prim-thing, which transmits these stats to a central server (via XML-RPC). That way, we could get a map of sim FPS through a web-based interface, have a history of server performance over time, look at performance hotspots, and people would have evidence when they say "the sim fps was about 3" etc etc.. sound any good?
Of course, it could also work the other way - make the clever in-game prims into a console, and let people query other sims' stats - this would retrieve information from the central server (again via XML-RPC).. there could even be a 'world status' figure - the average time dilation, for example.
Thoughts?
