Attached are some screenshots I took while driving around SL and sinking into the road at Sim borders. I included the UI chrome so you can see the region and co-ordinates as requested.
EDIT: OK, there's a maximum of 5 shots per posting so I'll have to make multiple posts.
I have another question about the roadways in SL which is: why are they all set to no-build? It really makes it a pain in the butt to rez a vehicle. You have to find a resident-owned parcel nearby to rez and hopefully you can drive onto the road, or you have to go into edit more to position the vehicle, which is almost impossible for n00bs. You also can't make a landmark for some reason. When you try it says "the land owner does not allow it". I can't think of any reason the facility to deny creation of landmarks should exist in SL at all, let alone be set on 'public' roads.
While I'm here, what is the linden policy on user-created objects overlapping the road. I'm thinking primarily of signage, but there are also home-make off ramps, bridges and even whole sections of buildings over the road in places. If it is allowed, is there a minmum height above the road so as not to block tall vehicles, etc. ? If it isn't allowed to build stuff over 'protected land' why is it allowed? I could abuse report every instance, but it's not exactly difficult to find yourself.
