This is not a situation unique to any one sim. Why wouldn't you have made the bridge supports phantom to allow for an easier, and in some cases the only possible, passage for boats. Did you figure that the waterways would become so crowded with builds that boating wouldn't be a big draw anyway? If not, make that switch please? I'm pretty sure the bridge won't collapse without support.

Actually, when I made the bridge in Portage for Governor, it was my first ever. *grins* So I have learned a lot since the about what makes sense and what doesn't as far as boating goes. I promise, any new ones I have made have spaces for boating!
I will definitely check on this and make it both asthetic and functional.
