Hello, I am a land owner in Secondlife. I own a small parcel of land, and was looking to expand. I have been running into a problem through with the Covenant lands, the feature SL has offered in a recent update. It seemws now that all the land for sale in SL is either costing us users an arm and a leg due to the availibility of land we can own, or everything isset to a covenant, including mainland areas. I read the knowlege base, curious as to what LL says a covenant is.. this is there opening line
Private Island Covenants
Covenants come into play if you decide you wish to sell your land on your private estate. It is not mandatory to set a covenant to enable land sales but it is suggested if you wish to set up zoning or other rule sets on your Estate.
To me, the covenants state that Private Island owners use the covenant to set guidelines and rules for there own sims, but why is everyone now in mainland sims createed by LL going to covenant? It is making it alot harder to search for land in world to live on, driving up prices, (for examplw i can find many plots in the 5000-4000m range for 500USD!) and the covenants rules and guidelines are now restricting us in the mainland to own a shop, or create a house we want to enjoy. Many places say pay for the land, and X ammount of dollars a month for it, and we control what you do, and have the right to kick you out no refund, even for a small mistake. Second life is for Creating and expressing yourself in arts, building shops ect.. But we are now supressed by this I feel.
I tried asking LL about the covenants, but have not got an answer back.. I am curious how others feel about the covenants and the effect itis having on SL residents looking ot own a home, store or whatever....
sorry. i think i posted this in the wrong area... if i did i do apologize..
