Hi,

I have seen several posts in this forum concerning 'abandoned land', but just what does this term actually mean? Is there an official Linden definition?

If I buy a piece of land, can I go on a 12 month round-the-worl tour, with no access to sl, and return and expect my land to be exactly where I left it, and in the same condition as I left it? (providing, of course, that I have set up the correct payment scheme for the year before I go).

It seems that if someone is interested in your land in sl, and IMs you, and gets no reply, they report the land as abandoned, or is that too simplistic?

Hello Rock. Abandoned land is land that the owner chooses to release without compensation. If land is abandoned, it goes to the ownership of Governor Linden. It is usually best to try to sell your land to another resident, but sometimes timing is an issue and you can abandon land immediately.

There is no login requirement to remain active. As long as your account status is current and your fees are paid, you can be assured your land will still be yours when you return from your hiatus.

I review the concerns bought to these forums concerning abandoned land and do not claim land from an active account.
