First of all there are still lots of bug issues on the preview cant believe they are putting it on the main grid so soon. how about constant crashes at duplicating trees that is still there and some of the testing modules i found bugs in why the rush Lindens???? i see very few improvements nothing the common person can use why not just keep 1.6 on the main grid for a while longer til you have bugs worked out of 1.7 ? i guess we can compare 1.7 to Microsoft ME. remember how microsoft forced MS ME on the market bugs and all. it did not last long before xp came along. so Govt Linden are you going to imitate Bill Gates think there is a certain similiarity in this case between you two and put something on the main grid that is not ready to be put there for all to use. well folks prepare to crash constantly with 1.7 when it hits the main grid and prepare for things to not work worse than 1.6 and previous versions. or shall we compare 1.7 to Ford though i had a good ford i have heard the acronymn for Ford is fix and repair daily well think we can give an acronymn to 1.7 and that is crash and reboot hourly.

Like almost every prior release of SL, you can expect one or two "emergency" patches in the first week or so of the release of v1.7.
In general, it is difficult to release bug free software; for LL which uses its customers as testers, it is harder still. There comes a point when code has to be pushed out the door because number of bugs approaches zero as time approaches infinity. Some firms (e.g. Rockstar) seem to produce games that are so well tested that they rarely get past the 1.0 release. Linden Lab isn't quite as assiduous; then again Linden Lab doesn't have tens of millions of customers per title, either.

Erm what tree bug, It was fixed in build 44 (Oct 13th) "Duplicating trees from the Library no longer causes crashes." I've just been on and cant reproduce this, duplicating and copying trees works perfect for me for all the ones in the library, so what kind of tree are you having trouble with? I've seen many sim/client crashes in this preview all of which have been fixed and closed, that doesnt mean there wont be any as has been said before there is the undiscovered which is one of the reasons to goto the maingrid, as far as what still known on preview these are smaller bugs, most can be seen here https://secondlife.com/tiki/tiki-index.php?page=Preview+Known+Issues although its slightly out of date.

Thats probably one of my favorite minor bugs, nothing like turning the land rainbow when you use landowners, and as the second poster said there is a time when you have to release or you will spend months working on minor bugs and retesting, because with the small test base it takes so much longer to get reports in, when in the field you get more results, and hopefully we have covered most of the major issues in preview, its quite a balancing act

The entire community is going to be a bugtester for a while. Not a nice tactic to use, but often done. Quite efficient, really. I agree with Nathan in this thread.

Considering LL still calls SL just a giant beta (usually this occurs when they cannot fix something), I doubt any of us are that surprised by this.

From: Julianna Pennyfeather we can give an acronymn to 1.7 and that is crash and reboot hourly. Starting with a number and ending with a phrase is not how acronym giving works.

Those who remeber 1.6 back a bunch of moons ago. The Nightmarish few updates. Well this is should not be as bad, but as it was said above. Well have a few patches to fix problems during the first few days. But then again why keep on previewing when at the moment its the best it can get, without having the true testing happen during real time usage.

And let us not forget 1.5. Even one of the Lindens admitted that one was junk. Be patient it does all get worked out. Question is will we all have ripped our hair out before it is.
