For some reason my avatar gets rooted when I have been online a little while and I can't move her or do anything. The only thing that works is to log out and then I can't log in againg for 5 or 10 min, I can't even get online on the internet... Sometimes when she walk/fly she keep on doing that even thought I'm not telling her to, and she keeps on going untill I log off. All this started when I downloaded the new version. Anyone else have this problem or is it just me?

That. That is called a loss of connection. You lost your connection to the sim and went "red map" and the client couldn't tell. As a suggestion to LL if the client is getting input (or lack thereof) and the avatar is doing something else, ie if the user presses forward, but the avatar's location don't change and vice versa then check for Red Map.

Are you trying to use a wireless connection? The brief interruptions that are relatively normal in wireless connections, and which wouldn't matter for most other applications, are one of the reasons SL is not supported in a wireless environment. If the client ever loses contact with the server, it has no way to reconnect you. It needs a hardwired connection to be reliable. Well... to be somewhat reliable...

Im using a wireless connection and don't get or havent had disconnection issues, I still get typos but im looking for that bug. I didn't realise that SL wasn't supported on wireless.. cant see why as it works, even on the train. Gumby

Hi and thanks for the suggestions, still have the same problem though. Question...what is a Red Map and where do I find it? Could my problems have something to do with the fact that we use a router? Have to say though that SL worked fine before and we haven't changed anything.

Red map refers to the mini map going dark red in color when you crash. Well you don’t know you’ve crashed. Everything seems fine until you try to move. Ive went what seems like forever just chatting along, typing away, only to find that I was talking to myself. Kinda like a stealth crash. What you may want to try is unplugging the router and modem for about 30 seconds. Then plug in the router then modem. That’s helped me before when I’ve had similar problems.
