Dns Does Not Work After Crash

Hello again.

A large bug I'm noticing with the viewer. If the viewer crashes, and I attempt to restart it, submit a crash log etc, EVERY TIME, I am required to restart my comp, as otherwise I receive a "COULD NOT RESOLVE LOGIN URI (DNS)" or something to that effect (can't copy error text, which would make it alot easier).

I am running Windows Vista Premium Home Edition, at the current patch level.

That's for sure. Half of the interface text is unselectable (ever been asked for the data under Help -> About? Yeah, try copying that character for character exactly). Drives me nuts.

I get that allot as well, I ignore it, like most of SL's error messages and I keep trying to log in. It usually allows me to log in on the 3rd or 4th try.

Vista has a SP1 now which a lot of the pack contains network discovery fixes. Rendering is also catered for. When you download it from the Microsoft website, it gives you the 32 bit version by default (around 470+mb), do a search for the 64bit (around 740+mb) to make sure you have the correct one.

XP now has SP3, which does much the same updates.

I have that same issue and I'm also on Vista. To fix it quickly, just flush your DNS cache.

Open up the command prompt and type

ipconfig/flushdns

You'll get the message

'Successfully flushed the DNS resolver cache.'

Then you should be good to go.
