Ok let me see if I can get this right. Installed preview on Laptop wifi connection. Painful lag at .9 fps. Logged off. Installed on pc hardwire connection. No issues until watching video as noted before elsewhere. Preview ran fine on pc. Now here's the kicker. Went to go back into 1.5.14 on lappy same lag issue .9fps. Uninstall preview on laptop, 1.5.14 can't find newview. Won't start. Go to uninstall 1.5.14 and guess what ? It's already gone wtf??? So, re d/l 1.5.14 install everything is FINE on laptop on wifi.
Go into 1.5.14 on pc hardwire, lagalicious .9 fps. Uninstall preview. Login 1.5.14, same deal, it's not there. WTF ? Are the executables renamed now ? I know that the preview installed in it's own directory but the uninstall wiped out both installations. And what 's the deal with the lag on the laptop which runs fine in 1.5.14 with phenomenal fps but bogged down with presumably both installations intact.

I am using wifi but not on a laptop. FPS was pretty normal as can be other than the normal associated lag in the busy areas.

From: Lecktor Hannibal Go into 1.5.14 on pc hardwire, lagalicious .9 fps. Uninstall preview. Remember that they share their settings (unfortunately): Thus, if you change some settings in the Preview (or if it changes them itself), those changes will carry over (if applicable) to the "old" version as well. It's possible that the uninstaller was misconfigured, unfortunately :< And as for your question: 1.5 does not have the same EXE name as 1.6 does. newview.exe, SecondLife.exe.

Well thanks for swagging at it but it doesn't work. Changes to preferences were not made. Everything was set as I normally set it. I'll bite at the uninstaller being borked and wait for a Linden to look into this. I can't imagine how it could wipe out two directories. Not so much worried about that as I am the performance issues, realizing it's a beta preview. I have no issues running 1.5.14 on my laptop which is less that 3 weeks old and top of the line in spec. requirements for SL.

*shrugs* Maybe the renderer somehow gets/got shared... I don't know.
As for the uninstaller, mwell, I don't see how it happened, myself. If it had taken one, but not the other, it would make sense to me (simply looking at the wrong uninstall file). But... both? They really both went? That's what boggles my mind. It's like it took the command line argument or the locally placed file, then went for a hardcoded one too or something... but that wouldn't make much sense either.
