Since this last batch of updates, whenever an IM is received, my focus gets yanked from whatever I'm doing, and I end up typing in Chat. It doesn't make any sense at all... if I get an IM, why the hell would I want to switch over to regular chat?!
I script constantly when I'm logged in. It's the most annoying thing in the world to receive an IM, and start dumping code into regular chat. I have to stop my train of thought, erase chat, clear up any confusion caused, then return to my script to try to pick up where I left off.
STOP "FIXING" THINGS THAT DON'T NEED FIXING!!!!

It's called they fixed it where the last button clicked had focus. Now instead of jumping around when trying to type an IM you now type it chat. It's an improvemtent if you ask me.
An improvement AFTER brreaking it.

Fixed? No. Improvement? No.
Further breaking an already broken feature? Yes.
This is a nuisance. Nothing more. There's no reason I should be forced out of my scripting window when someone decides to spam group IMs. It's a retarded addition, and needs to be fixed. Period.

Agreed, and the the fact that it is even remaining is arrogance in a raw form, they are essentially REFUSING their PAYING CUSTOMERS and leaving it broken instead of simply removing the code that changed the behaviour in the first place. No-one wanted the new behaviour, no-one likes the new behaviour, except for some Linden who creams themselves every-time the focus remains where they programmed it to, oblivious in a little box to the fact that NO-ONE LIKES IT.
Think I'm being harsh? All I see is features that work being broken either intentionally with new behaviours that had NO THOUGHT put into them, or by the myriad of bugs that remain ignored despite numerous informative reports. Meanwhile we get new features that I couldn't give a damn about in place of the many MUCH SIMPLER and FAR MORE USEFUL features that are all over these forums.
It's sickening, and I'm only getting more and more annoyed about it as Linden Labs refuses to take a bloody look at themselves as an organisation and realise they are about as organised as a group of blind and deaf 3 year olds trying to solve equations.

I have to agree, and not just with the typing focus. I've been harping at them in bug reports and feedback for months to leave the camera where I put it and not auto-move/zoom it.
If I wanted to type in chat, I'd bring up the chat window (IF I can... now with this new focus stealer half the time you cant get into chat by just pressing [enter] like you used to, or into mouselook by just pressing [m])
At the VERY least they should ALWAYS put in a [x] never do this stupid thing we've just added preference

Time to revert to the old code.

I think LL really needs to revert to the old code here, and start over. The change to compatibility with 2d GUIs is well-intentioned, but misguided. From: someone At the VERY least they should ALWAYS put in a [x] never do this stupid thing we've just added preference You could autopost this every Wednesday afternoon and save a lot of typing.
