Before the latest update we all so love, my secondlife experience suffered no problems out of the norm.

Since the update, my avatar no longer walks; but rather slides, scoots, or waddles like a penguin. From my perspective, other avatars have been doing the same (commonly gliding around in the default T-pose).

This happens with or without an AO. The forced execution of animations suffers from severe lag.

I've tried to find any information on this, but no luck. I need to know; is ANYONE else having this issue? I need to know if I'm alone on this one. lol

I had zero problems one day. I updated. Now everyone calmly scrapes along the ground like statues. =|

...help?

That happened to me the first day I updated to the new voice client. After a day or so, it seemed to iron itself out. I think the animations had to get cached properly, at least that's my guess. :\

that gives me a little bit of hope, it hasn't improved much yet tho. i'm concerned that SL's minimum requirements may have passed me up finally. i've been squeaking by just fine so far with 512 ram. i'm thinking that is no longer enough. =(

Have you tried clearing your cache? Also increase the cache size (assuming you have enough clean HD space), use the Client Debug options to increase it beyond 1gb if required, with a low ram, a bigger cache may help in the short term.

512m of ram is not to good for SL anymore (or even Windows in general). I went from 512 to 1gig and it helped, went from 1gig to 2gigs and it helped a lot. I monitor the ram usage of SL and it usually uses up 1gig+ alone. To make SL run somewhat smooth you need more ram that what SL is going to want to use. Otherwise you are using the cache of the hard drive and that is a lot slower than cache of the ram. Especially if you have an older slower hard drive.

I have an older computer with old hardware and it plays SL pretty good with 1.5gig of ram. Anything less and it lags badly. So having a faster computer may not help alot. More ram seems to be the key.

Anyway try what AWM suggested and good luck.
