Ever since SL 1.7 (I think--who knows anymore), whenever I upload a file into SL, the file dialog box/window is the default Windows one: ...instead of a File-Ex-overidden one (which remembers recent files/directories and does many more useful things): ...making it annoying having to find recent directories. Why was this functionality changed? For Macs? For Linux? I would like this behavior restored so file open/save dialog overriders like File-Ex can work once again. Also, SL freezes when this dialog box is displayed, unlike before.

I don't think it is SL. Mine defaults to the last directory I uploaded from.

Not mine; it always opens in the SL directory. But the dialog box is different from before SL 1.7 (or maybe it was a 1.6 build)...

Regardless of whether or not the last directory is used, the issue is with the dialog box not being capturable by hooks like File-Ex which can enhance it. Why was this changed? Why does SL freeze when this dialog box is open? LL screwed up something with file browsing and I want to know why.

I would say try the latest version of file-ex, but it doesnt seem to have been updated since nov 2002

I HAVE the latest version, 3, but that's not the point--which is that before SL 1.7 (or so), File-Ex was able to capture and override (hook onto) SL's file browse dialog. Now it can't and it's annoying because I've been using File-Ex for YEARS (like, since Win9 and SL is the 1st app that it doesn't work in for me. It has a way to "train" a dialog but File-Ex just doesn't even SEE when SL calls the file browse dialog so something screwy is going on and I want to know why.

This has been fixed--not sure what build but it was either in 1.9.1 or 1.10.
