The latest update shows the following focuses: Release Notes for Second Life 1.10.1(0) May 31, 2006 ===================================== Features: * F1 Help using Mozilla ** Help for all Second Life users now available in a Mozilla window accessed by pressing F1 Bug fixes: * Improved avatar lighting to more closely match in 'nearby lights' and 'sun/moon only' modes * Improved flexible attachment behavior while crossing a region boundary So this update, which took all morning long, basically focuses on lighting and flexible prims. Where is the sense of priority here? Since the release of 1.09, there have been numerous reports of people freezing ingame, repeated sim crashes, prims turning invisible (they're still there, just can't see them), linking and unlinking objects messed up, etc etc etc. These are all basic system usability issues. But rather than focusing on these things, LL brings out a release correcting flexiprim and local lighting issues? It is understandable that customers might object to such when they're having trouble staying online and getting the world to rez properly. I'm not trying to bust LL's chops here... just saying, "Time to stop playing games and get down to business. Get priorities straight." Local lights and flexiprims don't mean anything compared to basic user interface and usage problems. Just some feedback.

The problem with this "answer" is that it's a copout. Any development team THAT out of sync with each other needs better organization. It is the program manager's responsibility to act as a liasion between development teams and make sure they ARE in-sync. Then the program manager needs to communicate with the community manager so end-users aren't left in the dark. Yes, some devs are more skilled in some areas but that's no excuse to not keep the end-user community informed as to SL's development cycle.
And who's testing these skewed bug fixes? I sure as hell don't see them coming out in the preview grid first! And I even double sure as hell don't rely on Linden Lab's testing since it seems to miss even the most basic glaring bugs WAY too often! It's the case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing (and is usually the cause of additional bugs).
SL development obviously needs some serious attention and organization because as it is now it's a confusing mess and only causes residents to get frustrated with LL.
