I noticed this feature in the SL 1.6 preview notes:
  1. Buy without sufficient funds redirects to Second Life's Buy Currency Web Page.

Where is that page?

mmm, Linden Lab is only advertising IGE and GOM?

Here is the URL: http://secondlife.com/app/currency/

There are 5 currency exchanges that I know of.

You'd think they'd at least also support Anshe since she's got the most money :p

Seriously, there should be some sort of application to make it to that page...

Hmm. Last time I looked there, I got a 404. I suspect that the current page is just a placeholder sort of thing, tossed togeter to have something there, and does not represent anything resembing final.

Right Lindens? :D

Currency Exchange is a race to the bottom.

Is there some way we can fix that? People on that list are just going to become unstable because the profit margins will be too thin.

Bah, doom and gloom.

The currency race itself may be unprofitable. I'm making maybe 3-10 cents per transaction (usually the lower end) but it helps establish a brand, from which I can tack on other services, try ideas, etc. Branding is an extremely powerful tool. Do I expect to make a ton of money selling L$? No. Is it a waste of time? Absolutely not.

Instant Lindens

Before anyone gets riled at the prices, keep in mind that I do not plan to ever sell more than L$500. It is intended to give new players and Lifetimers a place to buy L$ in small quantities. The PayPal fee alone is $0.30 (+2.9%) and is reflected in the prices. In fact, in the FAQ I even list other sites that sell at better rates for higher quantities.

Very cool, Jack.

I should open source a name2key database.
