A bad hair day

I didn't have anything else left to do but to come here and complain about my hair. Here's the full story:

I got a free ponytail item on a shop. Wore it and everything was good. Then I decided I'd get another one like that since the item was no copy, so that I could rotate them on both sides of my head. I managed to screw it and decided it would be easier to get rid of the hair and get a new one instead of relocating it.
I tried detaching the hair, didn't work. Tried dropping, deleting it from my inventory as well as my trash bin, but the hair wouldn't go away.
All I could do was fiddle around with it and I managed to get it where it belongs (on my head) but I still can't remove it. I've tried equipping everything I have and putting stuff on my head so it would switch my current hair away but it doesn't. The hair just stays there.

How can I get rid of that hair now? It's fine on my current avatar form, but I'd like to play around with some other forms which the hair doesn't suit.

Is it a hair-type attachment (i.e. like "eyes" "skin" and "shape";) or is it made of prims?

If it's the former, the only way to get rid of it is to attach something else of the same type. You can't detach it because the client/sim/whatever doesn't know what to revert to (you have to be wearing SOME kind of hair).

I'm pretty sure it's made of prims. I could edit its properties a bit (rotate and reposition).

Its probably just lag. When SL gets busy attachments can act odd and not detach or even attach. Chances are if you log in later the problem would correct its self. Sadly you might lose the position you had or many other of your commands may or may not have been processed. So your hair might come back still sticking out wierd, in perfect position, in your lost in found, still on the ground where you tried to drop it, or deleted since those are the commands that you issued.

Yes, the problem solved itself. I logged out and when I came back the hair was gone.

Note to self: As a newbie don't play around with prim hair.

clearing your cache and relogging can cure 'most' attachment problems (not all).
