I have noticed that with 1.6 light seems to be working in a different way. I have found that even with the sun high in the sky, the light has a greyish quality far inferior to what it used to be in previous versions. And CNT-SHIFT-N and CNTL-ALT-M are not working. Neither is the gamma adjustment.

i've heard some complaints that people's screens seem darker in this build. most others like myself haven't seen any problems in that respect. i think it may be a specific hardware/driver issue?
as for the sun override shortcuts...that's odd. works for me. if you reinstalled completely, you may need to re-enable the debug menu first?

From: Jesse Murdock i cant even see at night with nighttime brightness turned all the way up and gamma all the way down, (gamma has no afgfect whatsoever) Yup, I reported the 'gamma control does nothing' bug during the 1.6 Preview. I can't even install the main grid version, so can't comment on that; but a suddenly darker, lower contrast screen image also happened with the release version of 1.2. The darkness in that release was eventually corrected, but the contrast has never returned to the level it was at prior to that time. It does sound like the current problems are probably driver and/or hardware related. I'm using the Nvidia version 7.1.8.4 with a GeForce FX 5500 128mb PCI.

I've noticed similar.
The inside of the Shelter has always been somewhat dark at night to begin with (I don't use "light" for lag reasons).
Now - its absolutely ridiculous. I have to tell some folks to go into debug and force daytime in order to see anything.
Also:
-Changing 'gamma' seems to have no effect
-The "Nighttime brightness" slider is confusing. The text near it says "Lower is brighter" however, of course - higher (all the way to the right) is brighter at night.
