If I log on with the old 1.18 everything's fine, but when I log on with the last update my friends list is initially empty ("waiting" and "hippos"  and stays empty until someone happens to log on or off and then it'll suddenly display in full. Lucky me, or anyone else experiencing the same?  |

I had that a few logins ago. Everything's good now but I don't expect any old problems involving the friends list are fixed.

It looks like it only happens on the next log-on after you clear cache.
If you clear cache and relog, the friends list will be empty until someone logs on/off?
If you then relog without clearing cache when it's empty, it'll be fine until the next time you clear cache.

yes, the viewer caches keys and names, if you clear the cache the viewer has to request the names for the keys it receives. once you have been running for awhile all your friends will be cached so they will come up. otherwise you have to rely on the servers for the name info, and right now that's akin to gambling lol.
Incidentally each sim also caches the names of the AVs that are in it at the time, taking some load off the central database. Just a little related tidbit.
