After downloading the latest release, I get errors "opening file(s)" when the install tries to run. Looks like they are all erroring out.

I've never had that happen before; anyone else seeing a problem running the update?

Yes, I've attempted to download the update several times and each time I come back with an error that reads:

NSIS Error

The installer you are trying to use is corrupted or incomplete.
This could be the result of a damaged disk, a failed download or a virus.

You may want to contact the author of this installer to obtain a new copy.

It may be possible to skip this check using the /NCRC command line switch (NOT RECOMMENDED).

I've sent a help ticket in to Linden Labs. I just hope they get this resolved soon.

I can't even get the patch to download completely, and it keep stopping before even being complete, and I've restarted a few times.

A theory on why downloads are corrupting, etc.

It seems that because of the heavy traffic on the SL download servers, with the update or full installs, its causing the download to corrupt due to packet loss of some variety. That's my theory, at least. I've had this happen before with other online downloads when the traffic for that particular download is noticeably higher than normal. Come back in a few and it should work itself out; I was just able to download the full install. I've installed it and it works fine aside from the fact that SL is down temporarily.

my Master is also having this problem. He called LL and was told to reinstall, of course it didn't work.

This is what i told him to do (which is basic Tech support 101 for any entry level tech support person) and it worked....

open internet explorer
go to tools > interenet options
delete cookies
delete files and check all offline content
reboot
download, install

give it a go and see :)
good luck!

I'm getting no love on that one...I've tried downloading the full install and the updates, but when the install tries to run I get an error:

Error opening file for writing:

C:\program files\secondlife\secondlife.exe

Click Abort to stop the installation,
Retry to try again, or
Ignor to skip this file.

Hitting ignore brings the same error on the next 10 or so files, before the install begins running correctly. But, I'm assuming the first 10 files or so are not loading.

I'm assuming you uninstalled your previous install of SL, right? How long does it take for the file to download to your pc? If it's anywhere over 5 mins, or so, on a cable connection, then the loss in data travelling over the internet from their servers to your pc might be the issue.

don't do the patch, uninstall and reinstall. Will give you a better update version.
