When I log in I keep getting an error that my quicktime is not up to date. I have the latest installed. What is the deal?

A) What's the actual version of the Quicktime you have?

B) Are you running Windows 2000?

If your version of QT is corrupt (i.e. buffer overruns etc) then the SL client will not initalise the pluggin. Fully uninstall QT, removing any residual cache etc, run a registery cleaner (assuming you have windows) and install a fresh copy.

Viadeo was working just fine until the new version was installed. I have not had any problems using quicktime or viewing streaming video outside of the new SL client.

The current windlight and RC i believe require QuickTime 7.4.1 (for some reason).

I sort of dread that we are now in the position that EVERY SL update will require a QT update or break movies from here on out.

Horrible security issues in one of the QuickTime releases.

If anyone can figure out how to hack SL to use RealAlternative instead, I'm sure a number of people would be most happy.

If you, like me, are using windows 2000 then you're fucked.

Quicktime only gets new upgrades for XP and Vista now, so the latest upgrade required by SL simply doesn not exist anymore for win2k.

Bye SL!
