(Hi all. I Just wanted to share my bug report with the world.)

Search for Land SALES returns land that is for rent (not sale)

Steps to reproduce the bug:
Click Search
Under price filter, type 2500000 and check the box
Under land type, select "For Sale"
Under PG/Mature, select PG&MATURE

Observed results:
8967 results are returned
Of these, at least 782 are not parcels of land for sale, but rather are parcels of land for RENT on PRIVATE ISLANDS.
Shown in this screenshot are two parcels in the search results (the top two listed) . the first one is on a private island, the second one is on the mainland. The cost structure and payment arrangements for these two parcels could not be more different. Yet, they are listed side by side in the search results, with no way to filter or sort by this essential characteristic.

Expected results:
When I search for "Land Sales" I should get a list of parcels that are for sale, rather than a mixture of parcels that are for sale and parcels that are for lease.

YES. I want them to make an ability to get rid of those retarded private island land "sales" and make it so we can filter just MAINLAND SALES. GAHHH

Not to mention SL is completely dying at the moment...

Here is my case in point

In land sales, search for price <= 9000, area >=512

You get a result that says 15.3 L/m2. The lowest plausible price i've seen.
The description reads
NO COVENANT,AMAZING VIEWS,FRIENDLY AREA,DIVINE HOUSE4FREE! ITS 512SQM BUT LOOKS MUCH BIGGER! HURRY BEFORE IT GETS EXPENSIVE!
Die Insel 230, 68, 22 (Mature)

ooo.. i think i WILL hurry there!
TP... click buy...
oops you must agree to this COVENANT

Traffic is ~227 here. I don't think i'm the only one who's been fooled.
A newer person might think this is the way its supposed to work, and agree to the covenant.

Gotta love it people are getting ripped off blind by mainland land sellers and complain about island sales which are a fraction of the cost and no different than owning mainland you just have to pay the estate owner instead of linden... oh that's right people think estate owners should pay their tier for them.

I've never seen such an abundance of land for sale. I laugh at the prices also. 1000L for 32m of land? LOL
woo hoo...I have a place to put my chair! YAY!! :-D

These "real estate traffickers" have to be out of their mind to think that they can sell at 15L/M...sure they may be moving some land to the newbies who don't know any better, but the bottoms gonna fall out soon.

Lets see them carry the land tier fees for all the land they own for a couple of months....hehe

Apparently they don't realize that the old "supply and demand" curve doesn't work in a world where avatars can log in and out from any place inthe world. A "home" is not needed to play this game.
Perhaps they'll realize that they can make a LOT more money by selling at lower prices so as not to incur the land tier fees.

oh, well.....time will show that what they are doing is wrong.

Significantly different and not relevant.

As an example.

If I owned 2560 sqm of mainland and thought, hmmh, I have some tier I am already paying for and I think I will buy more land to use that tier, I can afford another 1024sqm plot which will still leave me in the same tier, so off I go to buy land.

But hey I purchase PI land and have to pay not US$15 a month in tier but 20 or so US$ because of the PI 'tier'
Fair and reasonable?

There are many islands which are stable, well managed, and solvent. Renting on these islands is a great deal, and i strongly recommend people check them out rather than messing around with the mainland if they're not sure about the whole deal. My experience with Alliez and Tony has been great.

There are problems on the mainland you completely avoid on islands.

But there are problems on islands, too.

They can be unstable. I've had one island build move three times, ending up smack dab against one of the laggiest sims on the grid, then get sold out from under the renters. I've had neighbors talk the estate owner into changing the ground textures after I'd done a build based on the textures that were there... and when I got my corner changed back towards the original that of course messed up one of my neighbors. I've seen terrible fights break out on joint-owned estates.

They can be restrictive. There's a lot of things you can't do with your land on most islands. This can be good and it can be bad... but at the very least it's *different*.

Again, I have had a great experience renting from Alliez and Tony, and I didn't need a lowball entry on the land sales search to find them. The issue is not "mainland is good, islands are bad", it's "there are two radically different kinds of sale (akin to rental and freehold in the real world), they shouldn't be mixed up".

Watch out for the guy who sells land on those void sims - low-prim sims - as if they were regular sims, and charges an arm and a leg for them, too, without even noting anywhere in the literature, covenant, or anywhere else that you are getting far fewer sims than you would get from other island owners.

That's got to be the biggest scam extant.

We really need the ability to search to exclude private islands or mainland when searching for land. When I'm looking for a parcel, I'm looking for one or the other not both. Also, the $/sqm figure is useless when comparing private island parcels to mainland.
