I have been waiting desperately/patiently at each version to see if SL allows more groups....

Pleaseeeeeeee!! We all need them so bad... As a designer, I need the groups for malls, plus my other groups as community leader.

No groups for social time for me... there is no space...

When would it be? I know 90% of the residents need it.

Some day I guess...

Realize that when LL increased groups from 10 to 15 a couple months back, doing so involved an insanely ugly hack, or so I've been told. I doubt you'll see more groups than that until they do some amazingly deep reworking of some of their most basic code.

I think if LL revamped the Land Tools to allow for delegation of permissions, and changed the structure of groups to allow for more group flexibility - the number of groups we actually need may decrease rather than increase.

I know I'm a member of 4 groups right now that could be consolidated down to one single group if I just had the tools to make them do what I want.

As a facilitator of 4 groups, a student in a couple plus some other very important specific groups I have no room for any more. I have deleted all that i can. You give more ppl access and give no extra access for the extra business, etc. going up. I would also like to see an immediate way of evicting a person from a parcel of land even if only for an hour so that a meeting can continue. Those of us who facilitate groups can't say who can and can't come to our groups before they come-we don't wish to evict those who really need/want to be there. And when we file abuse report i have never seen an officer come and evict the person or even send me a message back. We also need to have the ability to prevent snapshots from being taken as some groups are anonymous. Or a way of seeing whois taking the snapshot. A sound is not enuf as some of us are deaf need a visual que.. I really wish someone would look at long term of some of these changes before u do them. Or be willing to roll back to a better update till new one gets bugs out. You have the technology so why pick a sim or make a small one up and practise there first and allow those that want to test it out for a month. Make sure u have ppl with various needs check it out. Be they business owner or someone with special needs even the other residents that help SL be what it is. This includes the griefers.

I see that you have revived a thread from over a year ago, here, and it would probably have been more appropriate to start a fresh thread for this, since much has changed since then.

With the next major version (1.12) there will be up increase from 15 to 25 in the maximum groups, along with a massively enhanced ability to merge several realted groups into one because of finer control over powers, permissions and roles - including giving selected group members the power to add trouble makers to the parcel ban lists.

Also, there exists right now the ability to ban an avatar from a plot of land - either for the owner, or an officer of the owning group, or by a script that can be operated by any authorised member. Nothing needs to be change in SL to support this, you just need to appropriately use the tools available.

If you are filing Abuse Reports, they go to Linden Labs staff, so it is no wonder that your group officers never turn up to resolve an issue.

If you are complaining to the group officers, and getting no respose, then I would suggest that you take it up with them directly, rather than blaming Linden Labs for your groups' officers' behaviour.

When someone takes a shapshot, there is an animation played inworld of using a camera, as a visual cue, and you can also turn on View-->Beacons-->Sounds which will show a yellow beacon at the source of any sound, including the snapshot shutter effect.

There are currently two (yes, two preview grids running - one of the next immediate version (1.11.2(0) as I type) which is mostly bugfixes based on the current main version, and another of the next major version (1.12.0(5)) which introduces the new group system. This second one has been running for close to a month already, so that people can, as you ask, check it out to see if it works.

This is announced at the bottom of the download page, in the announcement forum, in the login "message of the day" periodically, in the update messages, in LL blogs. It is frequently referred to in the technical and SL answers forums, and has forums deditacted to the testing of the new preview versions, and yet, in spite of all this, if you log into to (and please do, we need all the testers we can get), you will rarely see anyone else in the preview worlds.

I hope that answers some of your points, since it appears that most of what you wish for is either already here, or is already coded and on test before release.

Okay well u are partially right it was an old thread but according to my latest reinstallment of SL i still only get 15 groups and that was 2 days ago after upgrading. I do thank you however for taking the time to let me know how some features worked as I am not computer literate and sometimes things are explained in ways only a programmer or the like would know what it means.
