It has happened to everyone I know for several months now. You are not the only one. What bothers me is there is no warning most of the time. It just up and drops to desktop. There seems to be no pattern to it. Sometimes I can go for 6 hours, sometimes 6 minutes.

Perhaps an older version?
http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Old_versions Note that most of the ones listed here will be too old. Or perhaps try the Nicholaz viewer: http://nicholaz-beresford.blogspot.com/2007/08/bleeding-edge-new-version-18xe.html . _____________________

I have tried official release 1.19.14 on up, the COOL SL viewer and the RC. All of them have random crashes. It started happening after one of the botched server code updates months ago. I don't think it is viewer specific. It doesn't bother me much. It usually doesn't happen for after several hours at a time for me. It seems to happen most often when panning with the camera in heavy populated areas. When I am working on my house in my own sim with no one else around I don't crash hardly at all. I went almost 7 hours strait this morning with no crash... Tonight I went out to a heavy area and crashed a few minutes in, re-logged and went a couple hours with no crash then logged off..
I thought it might be video card specific but it isn't for me. I tried with a Nvidia GF5500 and the built in GF6100 I have in my old mobo. Also with the built in Radeon HD3200 I have in my new mobo as with the Ati 1950Pro I use with it. I have a friend that has a Intel C2D CPU and a Nvidia 8600 that crashes often also. I have 2gigs of ram and she has 4. Both using XP home SP3. |

I'm using 1.19.4 with no problem, it's the new version that crashes me to the desktop.
