New IM window missing buttons

I downloaded the new viewer, and I dont like what i see. The new commmunicate button, with friends and groups is a bad idea. If I resize my friendslist disappears ,why all these changes to the IM window? Forcing us into voice?
IM is my main means of communicating, and now I have this big box all over my screen, (ok, I can resize all that I know) but were the $%^^& is the close button gone off to? How do I close a IM chat, I get these group IM's or a quick chat with a friend but when I am done , I want to close it !!
Am I missing something here ? Please someone enlighten me !!

try clicking communicate again (think of it as a toggle button) that will close the window also I noticed that the window is tabbed if you want to change back to history or friends from IM you would click on the tab at the button which I noticed was hidden under the chat box sou you may have to move the box up to see it. I don't like the changes either (a real bad idea) I used to be able to monitor chat history while IMing a friend so now if I am IMing with a friend I wont know if someones talking to me at the very least I wish they would have given us the option as to which style/format we would have liked.

I just took a look, but clicking Communicate again closes the whole window, and after restoring it it still shows all IM's I did. I want to close one IM tab at a time. I found out that I can do that with the X button , but it is still annoying. Oh, and it really is bad that you cant keep track of history at the same time. without switcing windows all the time.

you can tear off some windows using the little square button with an arrow in it. it will make chat history a separate window like it used to be. You can also tear off individual IMs, but not the master IM window itself. There is a way to make the IM window more resizable, check out this thread for more info:

There's a little button with a cross in it in the top right corner (next to the tear off icon).

I prefer the old big Close button, but I'm not sure whether that is just habit.
