I thought it was replaced by the need not to remove the link? - Added the ability to edit sub-objects of linked sets in place, parent and child included.
Perhaps I misinterpereted this? --Jack Lambert

it's the "edit linked parts" check box now i'm pretty sure. that means less clicking on "select individual" every time you switch tools. and means we can link alot of prims and edit from there instead of building unlinked then trying to link later. woo all around.

From: Jack Lambert I thought it was replaced by the need not to remove the link? Can you delete a prim from an object without de-linking it?

From: Zuzi Martinez nope. still got to unlink that one prim first. Unfortunately, with the new edit link parts, this means you have to unlink the whole linkset, delete the prim in question and relink the set. You can no longer use the edit link parts to unlink a subset of prims or a single prim. McW

o.O
No no no. Bad Lindens, no biscuit!
Unkiuning IS nessesary. I dunno how often I've had to pop individual links to re-order prims Please don't make me have to unlink the whole thing when I all I want is to peel off one or two prims.

Woohooo! I must of misinterpretted the reply email I got from my bug report then. I am glad to hear this will be looked at. To be clear, I didn't mean unlinking wasn't necessary entirely, just that from the reply, it was my impression that unlinking subsets was not a necessary procedure, due to the edit link parts features. As mentioned one of the most useful things for unlinking parts it to reorder the linkset. Definately would have been sad to see that go. McW
