In addition to my problems with the inventory system and over all decline in performance since 1.10, here's an additional reason I dislike 1.10: I am having a serious problem with items disappearing from my inventory since 1.10
This has now happened on three different occaisions since 1.10. I take the items from inventory and place them into the world. Within an hour to a day the items disappear from the world and can't be found anywhere. They are not in the world anywhere nearby, not in thier proper file location, not in Trash or Lost and Found.
Prim coiunt has not the reason for these instances of diassapeaance.
Others have reported similar instances in these forums.
So far, this has happened with a new airplane and with approximately 70 invidiual club/disco lights from 2 different sellers.

I have had it with items going missing!!!!!! RANT
Earlier today I posted about that this issue. As of that time I had lost 1 aircraft (replaced by a generous builder) AND 90 high-end club/disco lights (SL market price $45,000 Ls).
So the update comes and so I decide to risk my remaining lights. BOOM!! 30 Hyper Lasers and 2 Laser Controllers vanish within minutes of being placed in ther world. There goes another $11,000 LS
wTF! ??????????????????????
These items vanish for some unknown reason without a trace. They are not physically in the world anywhere nearby where they were imnitially placed, and they are not in my inventory Files, Trash or Lost and Found and they do not reappear!!!!!!!!!!!
WTF IS THAT ??????????????????????????
I am a have been a hard-core gamer for a very long time and have played many on line games. I have never witnessed or heard of such disappearance on sucha large scale as what I have experienced since 1.10. And in most every other on-line game the game's producer has an established procedure for replacing missing items for the rare occaisdons that do occur.
SO WUTS IT GONNA BE LINDENS??????????????????????

This happened to Koss, I don't know if it's still happening but I've reported it before, but can't seem to get any proper response because there's no pattern or apparent reason for it. The items were the same as you, disappeared from the world but they weren't in lost and found or trash, or anywhere for that matter.

And he's not alone
06-15-2006 05:06
This has happened to me, this happened last night to a co-worker at TeaZers.
But just knowing that we are not alone, and making as much noise as possible on the forum seems to get us no response.
This problem needs to be addressed. I've filed bug reports (3) and hope that also have done so...
But what we really need is a Champion at Linden Labs to take up the cause and fix this problem.

YES WTF.. OVER. KSSSSHT Wow, no I haven't lost that kinda inventory like some others, my God, I think I would have my hand inside my monitor!!!!! But yes, is someone at LL gonna get the head to "POP", like outta the dark hole, and fix this? This is causing sontent creators A LOT OF PROBLEMS!!!! Seeing how some of us are trying to make living in here, this is extremely frustrating!!! How long would the Lindens come into work and thier monitor is just "bang" not on thier desk any more!?!?!?!? Sorry Torley, your graphics card just disappeared?!?! P (Now Torley would be totally unfazed and probably make another graphics card outta watermelon rind!!!, but that's beside the point ) So it now takes up to 4 times longer to create stuff, this impacts your work flow, scheduling, and not to mention these poor people who have THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS WORTH OF INVENTORY DEEP SIXED INTO THE LINDEN HOLE!!!! Since I'm sure Linden Labs is probably makeing a little bit of money from all thier residents activities, would it behove them to rectify this, ummm, LIKE IMMEDIATELY?!?!?!?! My $2L, and uh BTW, anyclue about attachments on the forums, been trying for 2 days now, thanks again Linden, love spending all that time on ads and what not, just so I can look at em at home by myself! But, wiping with the other hand, SL's still the shizzle my Lin-dizzles, if we can just get some of the stink off we'll all be in the hizzouse!!

Disappearing Items. :[

My partner Maat Baphomet had more than 10.000 items in her inventory, now she have more or less 800 items and all in her folder "My Library", and only empty folders in her folder "My inventory".
These items are lost forever? Only in skins she spent thousands of lindens! Shoes, hairs, clothes, animations... all is gone!
Now She only have what She's wearing, and neither can find it in her inventory.
We spent thousands and thousands of lindens, lindens that I bought. And now what? All lost?!

Did you clear the cache first then reboot? I thought I lost at first. But it's all coming back once I press the clear cache.

Yes, first, to rule out possibilities: * Go to PREFERENCES > NETWORK tab > CLEAR CACHE button. Press that, relog. That can serve as a refresher for a local inventory that isn't synced right with what's on the server. * Then, do any search in inventory--wait for it to stream and the # will get higher. Hok, if you have parcels of land inworld where you can check object count, please see if you can test on them to see if the objects are actually being lost (content loss), as opposed to visually just disappearing. The tricky thing here is there doesn't seem to be a pattern and this is "random", but bugs have a method to their madness. I won't give up on you guys... if we can just get more clues. Jonny, very funny--sounds like a creation myth. I dig, fo shizzle!

Yeah, I tried the usual re-logging/cache clearing stuff, which didn't fix the missing items. Some of them were walls you see but suddenly I could fly through them (my usual check for a 'missing' item is to see if I can still bump into it).

From: Torley Linden Yes, first, to rule out possibilities: A few weeks ago my friend got his inventory lost. He told me that the sim he was in got attacked by griefer, or hacker. he got logged out. And when he logged back in, lots of people who was in the sim at the moment of attack got their inventory lost. Maybe this has something to do with it?

Jonny, very funny--sounds like a creation myth. I dig, fo shizzle! Actually Torley I haven't had this happen to my inventory in 1.10 yet. But in other versions. With the advent of the new version though, when I build something, I have rezzed prims in, seen them flash into existence then right back out again, as if the sytem was deciding to get rid of them. They are not invisible or such they are just gone as if the server was kicking back to a time just prior to thier placement on it's own initiative. But then there have been a lot of build/inventory related isues not being adressed since version 1.7 came online, such as prims re-orienting themselves, example, rotating to say +45 degrees when you have not even touched rotate...also self replicating prims, not scripted but they just do it, sometimes as many as 12 time ( the most I have witnessed yet). This is not unique to any one sim as I have had it occur in every sim I have built anything in. I have sent bug reports for a long time over this and nothing changes. And it is not my internet connection as if I go to a third party site to check packet loss etc, Linden's packet loss to me far exceeds what I show on a third party site. I think perhaps LL needs to look into some throtling on the speed at which the servers try shoving things down our throats.

Nargus: Inventory loss isn't tied with a simulator being affected that way, I think. Inworld content may be (rolled back if damage is severe) and so will attachments (in my experience). But, no, hackers or no hackers, in practical experience, that shouldn't make a difference. From: Dpende Control Thanks a lot, Xia and Torley, the items came back clearing the cache. Wonderful! Dmitri: As always, I know it's hard to nail mysterious problems that are tough to replicate. But if you have any surefire ways to repeat these reproductions over and over so I or any Linden can get a better understanding of the issues you describe--please don't hesitate to post or email me personally (torley@lindenlab.com).
