Seriously, lindens, the new "Communicate" window does /not/ work out. It's too big, it's clunky, it's annoying, it's not versatile enough.

Let's go back to where our tools were separate -- no carpenter wants a tool that has a saw, screwdriver, hammer, ruler, etc. all in one. It'd be too heavy, and much to dangerous.

I want an IM window that's separate from my IM window, i want a voice window that has completely nothing else to do with the others. I want my history window back!

Furthermore: Why is there a text bar on the History window when it's been separated? That seems a bit brainless...

*******Is it not possible to use the 1.18.0 UI and use a new voice window?********

Just because the lindens put work into the UI, doesn't mean the new UI is good -- it's time to put work into a /worthwhile/ UI.

rant over. >_>

Actually, although initially I wasn't sure about the text input in the history window, I've actually found it quite useful on occasion.

Typical situations is that I'm in the middle of typing a reasonably long sentence in the main chat input when someone asks a question which has a quick response - I can quickly stop what I'm currently typing, type the quick answer in the history window and respond, and then go back to what I was originally typing.

That's what the rest of us use the clip board for.

So? Just because The Old Way works for you, it doesn't negate the experience of someone who likes a new feature.

That involves:

a) selecting the text (which typically involves an involuntary jump before you remember shift-home doesn't work in the input box, and an aggravating wait whilst you drag select the text with the mouse if the text is longer than the input box since the scrolling is sooo slow)
b) CTRL-X
c) type the new text (remembering NOT to use cut and paste)
d) CTRL-C

the new method involves:

a) click
b) type (and you can use cut and past here)
c) click

So I quite like that text input box - plus home actually works in that box!

I don't like not having seperate friends and groups windows, though!

ctrl-a, ctrl-x for me is 10 times faster when I'm typing that grabbing for my mouse and getting where I want it.
