Despite all of the recent problems with SL, I've still been enjoying my Second Life. One of the key things I consider when using a program is whether or not the interface is smooth and intuitive.

SL used to be a program I enjoyed using. Moving around and swinging the camera around at will were easy to do before this last update. I could use one hand to walk, fly, and move the camera all around my avatar. Now, camera operations that I used to be able to do simultaneously with one hand must be done separately with a combination of both hands, the keyboard, and the mouse.

I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually... but for now, it's frustrating me to no end when I keep opening menus when all I want to do is tilt the camera up and down. Instead of introducing new "features" and forcing them on all of the users, why don't the Lindens allow users to choose which style of camera and movement controls they prefer. Many FPS games and RPG games for both PC and consoles have multiple control configurations.

I won't. I HATE it. I cannot begin to describe how MUCH I hate it. I simply can't move around with the freedom that I used to, and the system is so counter-intuitive that it will NEVER feel as comfortable as the old method did.

CHANGE.
IT.
BACK.

I agree completely, and that's what I hate most. I play using WASD rather than the arrow keys, and much preferred being able to hold alt, reach up like an inch or so to hit C or E and rotate my camera around my avatar, instead of using both hands to hold alt and hit pageup/pagedown.

This is a painstakingly annoying process, because previously, I would be able to control the up/down axis with my left hand (which could manage ALT, E and C), while my right hand held down the left mouse button and controlled sideways movement to pan horizontally around my avatar, which gave me much more control in a quick and fluid manner. Currently, it's a hassle which has left me extremely irritated.

If you haven't already voted, you can do so by clicking here. Somebody else has started a new proposal for basically the same thing (of course he claims he already searched and didn't see the first proposal), but it would help if you all voted on the proposal linked above instead of the new one. That way all of our votes are in one place... and it looks more impressive!
