I don't have a problem with it. Nope.

Kinda nice to have everything- chat history, groups, friends, IM's- accessible by tabbing through one window. It doesn't even take up as much space as people were making it seem, either. I must admit I was rather concerned about it when I read the forums before downloading/logging in to the new version. Then I gave it a try and thought, "...Huh. This ain't so bad. What's with all the fuss?"

Doesn't ruin my SL experience one bit.

Just sayin'. :)

I think it might be better if I could set it so that it becomes smaller when IM is selected and larger when other tab is on.

And I don't like to get messages that "Bob left the session", "Ted left the session", "Mary left the session", .... and so on when people close their IM sessions from a group. It would be nice to be able to set a setting for a group so that the "New IM" button does not appear for that group. That way I would get the IM's, but only important person to person IM's would put the button up marking that I have something concerning me personally instead of some random people just chatting through group IMs.

for me it's just too huge so a friend modded the ui and was able to resize the window smaller, but i like having the old way with everything seperated. now when i size the im smaller my friend list is way small. chat is normal since i tore that off. i think we should have the option to have both old and new if we wanted. It would only take them a bit to fix that.

That is indeed very annoying but group IM spam and "Bob has left the session" messages were always there with the old chat/IM window system. So, less of an issue with the new communication window and more a general problem with group IM's. :P

It would be nice, though, to be able to regulate use of group IM to certain members only. As it is, the group owner could always ban those who defy such a rule, but it would be better if there was a "group IM permissions" setting or somesuch thing. (I could be wrong in assuming that doesn't already exist, I'm just going on personal experience with all-too-common group IM spam.)

"Bob left the session" problem was in the old IM system, but it is in the new too. They might never fix it, because its just a feature. LL propably just fixes bugs and creates new content and new bugs that they fix while they never get enough time to fix all the bugs. If you create more bugs with new versions than what you fix, the amount of bugs increases over time. And when you sum up all the annoying features that will never get fixed, I start crying if I use the software. Not because the software is bad, but because I quit and go making some pizza with onions.

I agree - but what is even worse, if I leave the session, as soon as someone else joins it, the group IM tab dings me and reappears! "Leave the session" should MEAN "leave the session". I've left! I don't want to get another spam message already! GO AWAY!!
