Ok I really do not know what you people do all day but second life to me doesnt seem to be getting any better lately the same old same old problems that have bugged us for years are still going on. One major thing: Logout issues. When a person crashes sometimes it can take FOREVER to log back in because sl is so slow in booting the "avatar" out of the world there should be a process to detect if a avatar crashes automaically eject his avatar ...once the client connection is terminated then why does it take forever...... and i love those "the system is logging you out right now your avatar wont be availible till X. " this usually is several minutes and sometimes while you can log back in repeatedly and sometimes it will let you in other times you have to frustratingly SIT there untill the time has passed and SL "Decides" to let you in. Its very frustrating and like most things in sl really henders things.

I really dont understand why these problems that keep popping up from version to version still remains and are simply not fixed. A lot of people put a lot of money into this "game" and it would be nice for once if you guys would actuallly LISTEN and fix the problems we have . Thanks.

It is really bad when you try to tp from one place to another and get the message

"You have been logged out of Second Life.
You have been disconnected from the region you were in
You can still 'look at' existing IM and chat by clicking 'View IM & Chat'
Otherwuse, click 'Quit' to exit Second Life immediately"

Then when you try to log back in to Second Life the following message appears

Login failed
Region has begun the logout process
Please try logging in again in a minute

You are not on SecoldLife because you were logged off by SecondLife.
You can not login to SecondLife because you were not logged out of SecondLife
the F word come to my mind

Login server has to get the request from the simulator to finish the logout process. If the simulator is sitting in chicago and the login server sits in california, it's going to take atleast a few seconds for it to finish processing and to fully log you out, it's not instant, there is just more then you trying to login and logout out on the same machine. They only have I think 23 login machines for all these residence so as I have learned you have to be PATIENT with this platform and can not rush things or they bork.

Yes, a few seconds, not 5 minutes!
And SL sets a clock and locks users out until that clock has run out

No big brother in SL....

If the software was to try and keep check on everyone running about, to see if they are active, inactive, crashed or logged out, then it would do little else and we would all spend our time unable to move. That's the trade off.

However... the repeating of previously broken elements within the client is perhaps explained by one or both of the following:-

1) Those that work on the code are hourly paid, should they actually get it to work, they would be out of a job. Making it last 6+ years, is perhaps relying on old relationships too much.
2) No one is using Version Control. Old versions are being worked on, that have other areas that are broken, that another department is working on fixing, but they have the broken bits in their version from another department, that have broken bits from the first department. Each release carries the broken bit back and forth, and round and round it goes.

Maybe number 2, is a direct result of number 1. Or it fits the thought that, SL can only have 100 things working at a time, each version is a lottery. Whatever else happens, you can rest assure one thing will always be the same.... Its never going to work properly... never.
