I don't know if this is something old. But I realized that avatars that are in your friend list in the mini map appear in yellow.

At the beginning I thought...ok this is cool...but there's no option to disable that therefore it affects privacy.

Not new, but recent :).

Users with 1.18.4 viewers will see friend glyphs in a different color in the minimap

(Regarding your concern, you don't know which friend is nearby and an avie scanner would already tell you who's around in a 96m - or up to several hundred meters if they happen to be sitting - radius so I don't think they're really exposing a whole lot more than was possible already)

This really isn't all that different to being able to locate them on the map, this just removes a step. I don't see anything wrong with this, unless someone who says "no you can't see my location" shows up.

I'll have to find a friend to see if this works. Not gonna be easy.

Slightly off topic but related to the mini map. Lately I've notived on the mini map that some residents show on the mini map as green dots (which is normal) but other appear as a sort of arrow shape in the same green color. I just noticed and haven't looked into it yet. I'm not sure if this is new or if I just noticed it for the first time.
Any ideas anyone?

up arrow means they are higher than you, down arrow means they are lower.

Thanks Lee, I was wondering if that was it. One particluar spot I visit always has a large group of the "up arrows" on the mini map. I suspected they might be "traffic scammers".

Yes - looking around for greenpoint clusters in the map, you will find very much closed skyboxes with 20 or more defauls avs inside.

Sometimes I play a bit bowling with them :-) makes fun

I think, if there are 50000 user online, at least 30000 of them are camping- or traffic-bots

Yes, the arrow feature was implemented long time ago. Before that you just saw a green "T" when someone was above or under you.
