My first attempt to login with 1.7 got no server response. The second time, the updater intervened with a forced "update," which turned out to be 1.6.12. I canceled out of the install.
I did a complete uninstall of SL 1.6.11 before installing 1.7 Preview; and also deleted all SL-related Registry Keys and the SecondLife directory.

Blackadder make sure you are using the right short cut. Old 1.6 preview shortcuts will NOT work for 1.7 preview. The correct shortcuts are labeled "Second Life SIVA", this is because the 1.7 previews are being run on a different grid (SIVA) than 1.6 previews have been.

yeah that got me quite a few times my first day.. I didn't even notice the new shortcut it put on my desktop and kept hitting the old preview button wondering why it was making me download every time I ran SL.. LOL..

Ya, I always delete the shortcuts after uninstalling. Anyway, I'll try downloading the latest Preview viewer and start from scratch.

Downloaded the latest viewer, and was able to log in long enough to file a couple of bug reports before Oak Grove went offline.
