Hey everyone,
As many of you may or may not be aware, in the debug settings you can set your texture inventory to sort by date or by name. This is useful when selecting a texture from the texture tab in the object edit menu.
A long time ago, probably a year ago now, all textures were sorted by date, but then LL decided to sort by name which made things awkward since it's always easiest to find recently uploaded textures at the top when you sort by date. Anyways a few patches ago I noticed that when I sort by date I am no longer able to see any textures in my inventory but when I sort by name they show up. Is anyone else having this problem?
To find out please do the following.
Step 1: In SL click Client on the top menu. It is between Help and Server. Step 2: When you see the menu pop down click "Debug Settings" (it is the 2nd last one on the menu as of release 1.15.1 (3) May 14 2007 10:45:27). Step 3: In the combo box that shows up, type in "TexturePickerSortOrder". Step 4: You should see underneath something that says "Specifies sort key for textures in texture picker (+0 = name, +1 = date, +2 = folders always by name, +4 = system folders to top)".
So basically when you set to 0 it will sort your textures by name, 1 by date, and 2 by folders name etc etc.
Step 5: Try setting it to 2 and then create an object, right click it, click edit, select the Texture tab, and then click the texture box to get the Pick: Texture inventory window to show up.
Step 6: See anything? See anything when you sort by name or by date? Let me know if I'm the only one! If you don't, submit a bug report as I have so that LL becomes aware of another broken feature.

The use of the lengthy geekspeak camelcase term in the thread title probably drove people away to a post with a title they could understand.
Plus of course there's so much screwed up stuff in SL it's hard to devote more than the tinest speck of attention to all of them. Some have to be ignored so that the pain produced by the remaining ones can be savored to the fullest.
They've changed the sorting in the Inventory dialog with the addition of the option to sort system folders to top. Perhaps this had unintended side effects. Might try unchecking that and see if affects the sorting of the texture picker inventory.
Have you checked jira.secondlife.com to see if this bug has been reported?

Try setting TexturePickerShowFolders to false. err.... FALSE.
Oh, I saw stuff no matter how TexturePickerSortOrder was set.
