The scrolling up the screen text seems to have acquired a new outline that makes it hard to read. Anyone seeing this?

Since no one else responded, I will just point out that a number of other people have noticed how the text blurs against light backgrounds.

The text looks like crap over a light background.
The text is in front of HUD displays, right? Maybe something could be done with a HUD as a backdrop for the text as a workaround. You can turn on the smokey panel behind the text but that thing is pretty repellent too. _____________________

Do you have anti-aliasing enabled on your computer?

Richard Linden discusses the change made to the text display in https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-496 . It's best to go to http://jira.secondlife.com and login before clicking links to jira pages.
I have long had the suspicion that LL would fiddle with the interface until they rendered it unacceptable. This blurred text is coming pretty close. Sad to render a 3D virtual world useless because of inability to display text clearly. _____________________

It reminds me of my childhood when we took long car trips and I always got car sick. I get the same effect from the blurry text. At least LL is bringing back my memories if nothing else. I do have a question for the people who say they can't see this. Are you looking at the right thing? Are you looking at text against a light colored background? _____________________

The text fade effect is also rather repulsive looking.
Some folks may have the smoked glass background on their scrolling up the screen text. I find the smoked glass background to be quite repulsive and so never use it. I think a system that added a simple outline, no shadow, user selectable color and transparecy, would work fine. People could set their text colors like they already do, and set the color and transparency for the shadow for each kind of text in addition to the text color. We could each pick an outline color that both contrasted with the text and suited our tastes as well. If one chooses an outline color that contrasts sufficiently with the text color this would guarantee the text would show up against a background of any color or texture. But Richard Linden thinks it needs to be fancier than that, and the color determined by him and the program, not by the user. _____________________
