Granted, this is the first time I think the Lindens are adding what I consider a "bad" feature in Preview, but here I go. Luckily, this is minor.

As much as the avatar movement with mouselook, tracer name bubbles, and text to chat bubble features are nice, I feel the new interface is a touch garbled... at least in my experiences with it. Now, not to rain on anyone's parade here - if you like the new system, that's definitely your perogative. However, it would really be nice if clients had the option to use the "classic" system as it displays in 1.5, especially since certain attachments... etc. may be adversely affected in their viewers by the changes in 1.6.

Now, I realize this presents a problem, specifically on the fact that clients may now "grab" their name bubble and use it to move their avatar (I think). This functionality would need to be added to the original chat code... and my guess is that's something the coding Lindens are very loathe to do.

In that light, maybe it would be nice if we could edit the opacity/color of rendered name/chat bubbles at the client level and be given the option to "shut off" the bubble moving insanity? I'm sure it might save some chat casualties down the line. :D

Thoughts?

Got a handy example?

Yes.

I like my scripted bubble better. :D

Unfortunately, the black field... well... t'ain't good for it. And I'd imagine similar scripts using llSetText/Particles/Alpha textures in the region of the black box are also adversely affected.

You can actualy Left Click on your avatar and use your mouse to navigate, I'm not sure if thats the same thing as you're talking about with clicking the name bubbles, I've not tried that yet.

Also you can set the Chat Bubble opacity to 0, which gives the names a simular look to 1.5 behavior, however, the names still "float" around on the screen, not "pinned" above the avatars head unfortantly.

Also there is a chat bubble color picker (which I believe sets the colors of all chat bubbles client side). However I liked the idea of individual chat bubble colors, as long as bright yellow isn't allowed. :D
