Horrible Design: Communicate Window / Friends List

Please please please get the "Friends List" and "Group List" back to being separate windows and NOT combined with the IM window .... I have over 200 people on my friends list and am in 25 groups... So my choices are

1) Have a friends list that shows 3 at a time so the IM window doesn't take up a third of the screen

2) Have an IM window that now takes up a third of the screen so I can see my friends list better.

3) Constantly be resizing the IM / Friends list window so I can go between the two...

I receieve a LOT of IM's during the day, and check my friends list frequently.... And its really starting to get annoying having to choose between these 3 options.

PLEASE fix this.... Give us back our Friends List, Group Window, and IM Window in 3 separate windows again ....

It would be cool if LL split the difference of opinion, and quelled the community appeal.

Personally, and I've said this before, I think the design and flow of the new UI is superior to the old version. This is merely my opinion.

If you absolutely need the old ways to returnith, you can download the Nicholaz viewer.

Nicholaz' viewer

Here is the link to Nicholaz' viewer.

For the communicate window, it allows you to make it smaller and there are a few other features that I love. Nicholaz explains all. If you need to develop a sense of trust before going ahead with his viewer, just search this forum for his name. Or look at the link on his page which takes you back to this forum. I love his work and I hope that when the time comes that he must move on to income generating activities--his wonderful work is gratis, though of course he accepts donations--that someone is able to replace him. He has a much better touch with understanding how a UI affects its users than does Linden Labs. A fact which puzzles me, but there it is.

He's also submitted more bug fixes that have been implemented than any other person. Each time he gets new source from LL he's already at least 30 fixes ahead.

I like the new communicate window so much that I'm moving AWAY from the Nicholaz viewer, and back to the Release Candidate viewer from LL.

I'm frustrated with the new design as well but I sympathize with the UI design team, it's not an easy task to add new features into an existing UI without it going all pear shaped which oddly enough it did.
