First off, 1.7 is great! It looks good and it has -in general- given us more control. More options, more stuff to tweak, more to attach... In short -and this is what the people want- it has given us a bit more control, or at least userfriendlyness (scrabble that!). So why make it so that I can't make the IM window any smaller (as in less wide) than default?? The thing just eats up the screen now. This is especially annoying when building things. Between an edit window in the top left and an IM window on the right, seeing your prims [cool new blue halo included!] and mousing your camera where you need it, has gotten unnecessarily more difficult. I used to tuck it away on the right edge, no wider than the minimap. And I know (for all you wiseguys ), I could either: - put it at the top, which would require me to make it less long so I need to scroll back every two lines of IM received, - detach every single IM conversation (try the little arrow in a box icon), so I can actually make it less wide. Unfortunately, this means clicking and resizing it for every IM conversation incoming or outgoing. Anybody else have this problem? I know some of my friends do. I would like my Gatesgiven right to resize any window back, please.

I hear ya... IM currently takes up a relative lot of screen space with no easy way to get a "big picture" view, especially if you have many IMs ongoing. Please feel free to post in this thread, [SUGGESTIONS] How to make Instant Messaging better?

Odd, the (main) IM window scales for me -- using the lower right corner.

Whelp part of the problem is this, also (to compound other problems): you can now click the little doublebox to give IM windows "tearoff" windows of their own, but with all the other windows likely to be on the screen at any given time (especially Inventory, Mini-Map, Edit, and maybe Chat History), most Resis's screens are crying out for air. In addition to this, windows cannot be shuffled onto a 2nd monitor... yet. Which would ultimately be a great usage of screen realestate.
