Hello,

I am trying to use Second Life using a remote controled computer (trough LogMeIn.com services) .

But I can't see anything into the SL window . It is there, I think I can login but nothing on my screen ...

Can anyone advice, please ?

Thank you,
Rosher

Just a couple of quick guesses, but even with a +5mb-10bm symmetrical
connection , slviewer needs to render and the graphics calls (logmein/vnc/rdp)
will NOT update fast enough to your client to be usable.
sorry

Uncompressed video from the client at a playable speed (15 frames-per-second) could require as much as 285Mbits/sec of bandwidth for a resolution of 1024 x 768 which you're not going to get over the internet. Even compressed there's only so much you can reduce it by. Most good streaming media is "pre-compiled" or "hinted" for optimised streaming, doing it on the fly at large sizes is a non-trivial task. Only .h264 really has much chance of doing it well and it's very processor intensive at both ends.

If the machine you're on can't run SL then you've had it I think.

LogMeIn works, you just need to tweak a setting. Um...it's in the computer's connection profile, I don't have any PCs online at the moment, but it's a checkbox that I think says something like, "sync screen"...something.

Sorry I can't help more, I know the problem you're having, my desktop just isn't on for me to check what the setting is.

Sorry for the long delay, I kept forgetting to check.
If you haven't figured it out by now, here you go:

Log in to the PC
Go to Preferences
Remote Control Settings
UNCHECK "Use mirror display driver"

I discovered this has changed slightly.

Preferences > General Settings > (uncheck) Use Display Accelerator

I only got this to work if I changed the setting after I connected to the remote machine but before I took control. After that it was fine.

So does it work or doesn't it?
