it might be still a loooong time sadly..like they said in the official forums of SL
Joshua Linden Says:
August 23rd, 2006 at 11:36 AM Nope, the glitch had nothing to do with the new groups functionality.
When we start up the grid we have to tell the simulators whether it’s a “test” grid or a “production” grid, since the code is the same. An error crept into the startup script and so agni (the real production grid) thought it was coming up as a test grid. The grid tells other services it communicates with what kind of grid it is, which would lead to those other services thinking “test” instead of “production” so things might behave in unexpected ways. And unexpected usually means bad.
Playing it safe, we thought an immediate restart was the safest thing to do to get back into a known state. Unfortunately that takes a fair amount of time end to end as the regions all save and reload - we hope to make that faster in the future.
No sign of angry gnomes yet.
so heh..loosing faith in linden labs

For a company that updates as much and I mean MUCH as Linden does, they sure seem not to get it right the first time around.
I've played many games, including just about all the top games. I've seen the way they run bug fixes and updates and none seem to do this as much as they do it here. Yet it seems nothing ever changes regarding bugs and things that go wrong in sl.
Incredible but true.
