Big delay because on first login inventory is reprocessed - this is a one time delay, but will probably make things very slow this evening.

I keep getting a "we are sorry but despite our best efforts" message on login. Then SL quits responding. Is it me, or is this a common problem?

The process bar goes a little further each time. I am running a power book g4 1.5hz with 1gb ram. And i have a cable connection. I keep getting the "were sorry" message, but i did get one saying that my clock wasnt set right or something of that nature. It was worth a laugh..

the delays many of us are expereincing are not dut to inventory. we just cant get in. I had assumed the lindens were aware of it and workling on some bugs, but the above comment seems to indicate that the lindens are unaware of this. I have spoken though yahoo to a friend who DID make it in, and he has confirmed that most of his other friends are also unable to log in, and that the grid is a ghost town. I'm sure that linden labs will notice the lack of users and work on the problem.

after more reading it seems that this is not like when you switch computers and have to wait a minute for inventory to load, but more that the servers are overloaded by having to reprocess each account as they log in for the first time.... in laymans terms.
finally my screen just went wheite and then eventually processed rather than telling me the servers might be down. I'm in.... and it is supposedly gettign easier and easier to connect as people filter back in and the day rolls on.
