Object Permission Inconsistencies in Inventory

Okay, before this scares the heck out of too many other folks, this is what I'm seeing (bug reported already, though confirmations that this can be reproduced would be appreciated)

Did some cleanup and optimization on my LeoRenter (shameless plug) script tonight in preparation for a new release. Got ready to package it up. Rezzed out a copy of the previous version (next owner perms +mod +copy -trans), deleted all the contents, and dragged in the updated contents. Did a "take" back to inventory.

In the inventory, I right-clicked and chose properties to make sure the permissions on the box itself were what I expected. On the properties screen, the object appeared to be next owner (-mod -copy -trans). Wicked cool. Obviously an object like this would have a few problems. I deleted it and tried the same process. Got the same results. On a whim, I rezzed this new object back out into the world and checked the next owner permissions. They were (+mod +copy -trans) as I'd originally expected them to be.

Don't know if this is a transient asset server bug or a client bug or -what-, but it seems like the permissions in inventory aren't always reflecting the actual object permissions. This -could- scare the heck out of folks. At the very least, it's confusing as heck.

Anyone else seeing this?

Permissions on objects

I wish there was some consistency but I havent been able to determine any.
I have some objects in My inventory, some now have full mods, others have no mods
I mean zero nada,
I have a Scorpio Chalet home that now doesnt say who the creator is
and other things that Im not sure of since i do not remember what the permissions are.
The clothing I am 100% sure on because I NEVER buy clothing that I cant copy( because of an automatic clothing closet thingie that lets me clisk a picture of an outfit and poof Im clothed), or if it no copy, I put it in a specific folder in my inventory Anyway
I managed to talk to one of teh clothing designers I buy from and she said that she isnt seeing the transfer perm become active, She Tped me to her store and i bought the same item and it was all good ( proper permissions) but I gave her the copy I had in inventory and sure enuff full perms persisted,
She is going to ask some of the people who bought from her what their object perms are but I dont know what the results have been.

When you take an object into inventory, the permissions shown in the inventory line, ie the (no copy) etc tags after the name, reflect the most restrictive permissions in the entire object. Ditto for what you, the creator, see when you right click the inventory item and go into properties.

I think the reason for this is because something like this: If you have an object that's copy/trans, but it contains a script inside it that's no-transfer, then if you take the thing into inventory, that no-transfer script in there blocks the transfer of the entire thing. To enforce that, you see "no transfer" in the inventory item.

What this means for your object is just that you probably missed setting perms for some inventory item in some child prim in the object. It's always a pain to try to hunt down the item in the object's inventory that's holding back the permissions.
