Ok, I responded to the script thread but for those that are not 'script savy' like myself I was wondering if anyone else having trouble with any of their scripts on their land.

From what I understand, based on the new rollout, rather than fixing a bug, LL decided to truncate scripts without warning (hence, making many scripts unusable). http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-1394 Am I correct with this? Can someone tell me why this Jira is marked as 'resolved'?? Because it's marked as resolved I can't even vote!

I'm a Jira virgin, so if anyone can help me figure out where I can vote or let me know what I can do to fix this -- that would be great.

Please tell me I'm not the only one experiencing this!

They fixed an inventory loss problem (SVC-674). I don't think they are about to go back with it. Time to rewrite your code, and probably a harsh lesson not to use hacks in your script. Hacks usually stop working at some point.

Me, make a hack? I can't even script, so the chances of me making a hack is very unlikely. Most of the scripts I use (that are no longer working) are actually open source.

Ok, so I took a look at Jira SVC-674 and apart from voting, what else can I do? Again, I'm new with the Jira system, can I email to complain as well? This is rediculous.

There's no one else to bother about this. The basic fix, setting a hard limit on name and desc sizes, needed to be made. If the Lindens decided to relent and set the limit a little higher, then more of your scripts might work, it depends on how they're done.

What you might do is post the names of the scripts you're using that need fixing, and (if you remember) where you got them.

Again, I'm not a scripter and excuse my stupid question but .. does this mean that if I just change (shorten) the name & description of the item (main prim) that this would work?

Depends if it's the script that's at fault, some scripts use the item description to store data, but by storing more than the description can actually take.

Instead of just breaking it, LL should have done an analysis of why it causes things to break, and what the maximum legitimate description length really is.

It looks like this limit has always existed. Previously it was only enforced when taking an object into your inventory. Now it is enforced on in-world items as well.

LL Blog post on the topic:
