The help system has changed. What do folks think about it? https://support.secondlife.com/ics/support/security.asp This is probably old news to some, but as a non-landowner, for whom SL basically works as well as one can expect SL to work, I don't have much need for support from LL, and have thus just encountered this new help system.

Hmmm, and I haven't encountered any tech problems recently, except my own forgetfulness about emptying my cache, that earned a look-see. Will be interesting to see whether it does cover a broad enough range of "pop-up" problems to be useful....AND hoping I don't need to find out LOL

I certainly don't mean to suggest that SL works well for me, don't get me wrong, I have just gotten used to it's chronic state of misbehavior and given up getting any solution to the problems of frequent crashing, slow saving, loading and execution of scripts, constant gray textures, temporary disconnection on crossing sim borders, slow object rezzing, and the other problems that vary with each release. SL is just not a robust program and it's problems plus the internet from LL's network to my computer don't add up to an effective way to stream 3D content gracefully. Trying to fix these problems would be sort of like complaining to Marconi about static on his radio.
Are folks finding the ticketing system to work well as compared to the old techniques of IM random Linden staff, trying to call the old support numbers, etc. ?

I notice now an aggravation with the support center: it times out. This is an annoyance for those who want to leave it open to use as a resource for answering questions from others in the forums.
Also, a question, will the content of the knowlege base and solution finder or troubleshooter or whatever they call it be indexed by Google? If not, that's a major disadvantage at finding things easily.

From: SuezanneC Baskerville Are folks finding the ticketing system to work well as compared to the old techniques of IM random Linden staff, trying to call the old support numbers, etc. ? In a word: NO! My ticket #846022 submitted on 11 May is still waiting for an answer. I have a basic account, so am now not allowed to submit support requests, but this was not the case at the time I submitted this one on 11 May. Seems the Lindens just waited until they announced the new support system and then deleted my ticket. Pretty lame! And it does absolutely nothing to encourage me to pay for the service. Why would I want to pay for this game? Sure, it's great when it works smoothly, but how often is that? Maybe by the time I'm in a nursing home, SL will work perfectly!

From: Alaia Anatine Maybe by the time I'm in a nursing home, SL will work perfectly! Optimist. When you do a search for "gray textures", it returns results that don't have the phrase "gray textures" in them. Apparently the double quotes don't mean "exact phrase" when used in basic mode. The same search in advance mode returns nothing. An SL knowledgebase that doesn't include a section on "gray textures" and "grey textures", both spellings, is not sufficiently complete.
