[6:55 PM Pacific on 2007-07-30] Work continues this evening. We’ll update when we have more information, or again early tomorrow morning. arf... the next day: [8:49 AM pacific on 7/31/07] Presently, we are experiencing access issues with the Second Life Support Portal. Submission of support tickets and live chat are unavailable at this time. We will update you as soon as this issue is resolved. Thank you for your patience. [9:13 AM pacific on 7/31/07] This issue has been resolved. so glad to read the support portal works again.... then... [9:53 AM Pacific on 2007-07-31] [Update] On Saturday, when one of our many database hosts failed to a backup system, the backup system in turn was unable to handle the load. We attempted several fixes to this problem, including the creation and migration of load to other DB hosts, but we were still unable to determine why the systems were having so much trouble keeping up. On Monday AM, we figured out that the systems were misconfigured to handle the kind of load we were throwing at them. This was simple, unfortunate human error. We’ve been bringing new, correctly configured search systems online as they’ve completed imaging and copying in their DBs. That process should complete and be back to normal some time today. Again, we thank you for your patience. HURRAAAAA? no... [10:21 AM on 07/31/2007] I'm loggued off by a linden. [10:28 AM on 07/31/2007] At the present time there are issues when attempting to log into Second Life. The Server Team is currently working on a resolution. More information will be available as we receive it. Thank you for your patience. so fun

07-31-2007 10:40
Second Life Offline for Database Maintenance or Update In our continuing effort to improve your Second Life experience, we have taken Second Life temporarily offline for maintenance. This may also effect portions of our website. We are working to re-open our doors as quickly as possible and we appreciate your continued patience. For more details and further information on our system status, please visit our official blog at: blog.secondlife.com.
We asked for a grid shut donw for 3 days... they finally did it... let's hope they will NOW find a way to fix it...

The term "Lindened" has made it into urbandictionary.com. Will it find it's way into wiktionary ? http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=lindenedlindened broken1. lindened verb: Screwed up, botched, ruined. Something is said to be "lindened" when a situation is made worse by an action that was intended to make things better. This word originated in the Second Life community in response to the chronic troubles following Second Life upgrades. My brakes were squeaking a bit so I got them worked on - now they are completely lindened - it won't stop at all. 2. lindened made worse by an attempt at improvement The car was having some troubles before I got my cousin to work on it, but now I can't drive it at all, it's totally lindened. 3. lindened The process of taking something, and in an effort to improve it, making it worse. Particularly as applied to softwear programs, wherein updates generally result in more bugs than they fix, or more old features broken than new ones introduced. "He told me he was going to fix my car, but now it's all Lindened and won't even start." tags borked worsened broken inept undisciplined
