Wish #1. I wish that the Lindens would stop making updates MANDATORY or at least test them a little better.

I had to do the update today, up to version 1.19.1(4) and i have to say that I am more than annoyed. I have crashed more today than i have total in the last 4 years.

It is pitiful.

I don't come online very often anymore because of various time constraints but geez louise. I have crashed 7 times in the last hour and all i am doing is playing with some primitives in a sandbox.

The crash logger tries to connect but for some reason that's messed up and it can't report the bug.

Wish #2. I wish there was an inspector that could view what an Object or clothing item or anything for that matter, looked like without having to rez it.

When you opened your inventory, and look in the trash for example and you have a list of about 30 items that simple say "Object", it would be nice if you could right-click and have an "Inspect" option that would show you what it looked like.

I was one of the first to wish for point to point teleportation against the cries of doom and gloom ... so perhaps these wishes might be worthwhile.

Try the RC? Might do better, but maybe not. 1.19.1(4) is I believe the first stable(Normal) viewer to use Windlight, so if your machine can't handle it that could be the problem. Also, 1.19.1(4) has been mandatory for..something like a month now O.o

Well it has been a while since i have been on. I had about $57,000 linden dollars in my account and now i have over $78,000.00 so i guess i better buy some shoes.

My machine has an EVGA 780i SLI Mobo, a pentium core duo, 2 EVGA 8800 GTX 768MB SLI graphic cards (currently NOT running in SLI mode), 4 GB memory, 2 500 GB hard drives.

What, by the way is Windlight, if it is what gives all the glitter and stuff yeah it looks FABULOUS but crashing 15 times today ... i could do without it.

First of all 'in your account' meaning on your av, or in a bank? I don't know how long you've been gone, but almost all banks are not against the rules. Only approved banks (Who basically have to be RL banks) may do the whole 'banking' thing.

If on your av, and that's just stipends then wow...you HAVE been gone a long time!

Secondly, yes, Windlight is the new graphics system. Better...well..just about everything. And your machine should be able to handle it just fine O.o (Nice rig)

The 'RC' is the Release Candidate client, which will soon be undergoing a name change to 'preview' I believe. At any rate, it can be found here:

In the bottom left column of the page (Labeled 'Release Candidate Viewers'.

basically its the newest version of the client, though not released mainstream yet as it's the 'testing' version. It fixes some bugs, adds some other ones, and has newer features. It may just solve your problems, or it may conceivably make em worse.

If you crash a lots on Windlight in a good machine, is it possible that your graphic driver is a bit out of date? Maybe trying update it will help. Or maybe your card is one of the cards that I heard is buggy with Windlight. Well in that case, you can just disable the Windlight from Preference...though it make things much more dull than before...

Wish List #1 Increase group limit at 50

How much extra group-chat lag would you be willing to put up with to get this?

I'd rather have infinite group limit but with very limited ACTIVATED groups. That way, you can join all the groups you want, but disable all but those that you actually participating in. All others will only show up in the list but you won't be able to chat or receive any special ability from the group lands.

Ya can i have a amen on this one i updated to the new one that was to be all good and great and me and my wife on both of comps all we got was NOW HERE THIS LINDIONS LAG YES LAG BIG LAG AND CRASHES. so we put Second_Life_1-19-0-5_Setup back on are comps and omg sl works and dont crash omg and another thing WINDLIGHT SUCKS. Windlight is the new enviornmental generator they plugged in a few months, years ago. it was tested maybe 1+ years back now. Then vanished, then came back a year ago, then vanished again. Then appeared in the main client late last year as a permanent option. I can't handle it either, it's not just glitter and glitz. Its actually is the entire visual range from shadows, light, sky, water, reflections, basically the entire engine is now supporting Windlight.

To the OP, if the inventory/database had to hold thumbnails for every item in peoples inventories, it would probably add 20% additional loading, remembering that an 'object' can be a linked set of prims, which is bespoke and unique, so the thumbnail would have to be a screenshot, simply because it would not be a catalogued item. The point is, who takes the screen shot, what angle would be useful to actually see it for what it is? It could not be automated.

This is why we have 2 descriptive boxes to write in a good decription you may remember.

If that is something you could find useful, to have thumbnails, why not create a screenshot yourself, reduce it to 128x128 and drop it into the folder holding the items?

Not long ago, creators used to do that for you. I have several outfits that have the sellers picture inside.

Me either, nopt a fan of Windlight. You can disable most of it, go to your preferences and go to the graphics tab. There's an option to customize your client. I just slide to about medium and turn off the extra renderings and seem to be ok for a few hours. But yes, tonnes of crashes, usually doing nothing very strenious either. But your system seems pretty powerful to handle SL, it's a lot stronger than mine currently is for sure.
