One one the things I really enjoyed about SL was touring the water ways by boat and seeing all the great ctreations. Sadly this is no longer possible since the last update. Even cruising at the slowest speed, the ride is so herky jerky (heard it called the rubber band effect), as to remove all the enjoyment. Heres an oddity though, if I keep turning left and right constantly, the ride smooths out some.
Rant on:
I expect you to shelf the next three enhancements your are feverishly working on, in your ongoing effort to make the game totally unplayable and so self destruct, and just get what you got working for christs sake. I really have to wonder who is charge of things, and if he ever takes a look at whats being done.
Rant off!

heh ya you are totaly right but Lindens arent listening they wont stop the enhancements think of how they work, as in departments we are getting a lot of UI changes cause they are justifing their job. i dont think thers a Lag department hehe, but i think they are building modular like and the parts dont work well together. as some one said in another thread they need a total rebuild and trash all the inventory. well that would then be a totaly new program... -LW

no doubt..

I bought something and I didn't recieve the item, hopefully the designer will be generous enough to send it to me. I can't teleport..only workaround is to log in at the darn sim. Inventory is just a pain in the butt. I can't do ANYTHING. This has also got to be a pain for sim owners or anyone renting land, because they still have to pay rent, but cant sell, or are losing sales. Lindens are not going to credit, unless hell freezes over. This past month of downgrades has been nothing but headaches.. Attachments are just impossible. Come on LINDENS. Time is MONEY. Sorry I had to rant replying to your post.. or rant at all, but enough is enough.

To improve performance, they've decided to only send vehicle position updates occasionally, unless you are hitting a control... then you get more frequent updates.

A horrible design choice
02-14-2007 06:31
What a terrible way to increase performance.
The engine doesn't need an overhaul, it needs a replacement. Are you listening, Lindens? You cannot use the core active/outerworlds rendering philosophy anymore, It's gotten too huge. You need to *replace* it with something that works. I know there's discussion here and there about trashing the lifted active/outerworlds core and going with something like the unreal engine, which would be a perfect idea.
I also realize that trashing the current horrible engine would make things extremely complicated for everyone, but really that doesn't matter. There's always a way, hire some smart people and fix it already. Spend the money, we all know you got it in spades.
